EE roaming in Egypt

EE’s public Egypt page currently shows standard voice/text rates and requires a roaming option for mobile data. Sign in to EE for account-specific roaming options.

What the public page shows

EE’s Egypt page lists standard roaming charges — £2.46 a minute for calls and 98p a text for texts — and states there are no roaming passes available for Egypt in the public view.

Mobile data

You will not have access to mobile data without a roaming pass. The public page does not publish an Egypt pass price, so we won’t quote one.

O2 roaming in Egypt

O2 Travel costs £7 a day on Pay Monthly — charged only on the days you use it, with unlimited minutes, texts and data in 75 destinations outside Europe, including Egypt.

O2 Travel: £7 a charged day

O2 charges the daily fee on days when you make a call, send a text or use data — receiving calls or texts alone does not trigger it. O2’s current public pages disagree on the exact daily window, so check your account for the timing that applies to your plan.

Data: unlimited volume, 2Mbps speed

There’s no fixed data allowance within O2 Travel rules, but data speeds are capped at 2Mbps. Unlimited calls back to the UK and within your destination are included.

The Ultimate exception

O2 Ultimate Plans can include Egypt at no extra charge through the O2 Travel Inclusive Zone Ultimate benefit — the same 75 destinations, still capped at 2Mbps. If you’re on an eligible Ultimate Plan, your incremental Egypt roaming can be £0.

Vodafone roaming in Egypt

Egypt sits in Vodafone’s Zone D. Your exact charge depends on your plan: if your plan doesn’t cover the destination, you can add an Extra or pay a daily charge. Vodafone’s roaming checker is the authoritative answer for your number and destination.

Egypt sits in Vodafone’s Zone D. What you pay depends on your plan: if your plan doesn’t cover the destination, you can add an Extra or pay a daily charge. Vodafone’s inclusive Global Roam plans cover Zones A–C, so Egypt is not part of that inclusive set.

Vodafone’s roaming checker needs only your mobile number and destination to return your real price. It is the authoritative answer — we deliberately don’t quote a universal Vodafone Egypt daily rate.

Fair use on data

Pay Monthly roaming has a 25GB monthly fair-use cap where your UK allowance is higher; if your UK allowance is lower, that lower allowance is your ceiling.

Three roaming in Egypt

Egypt is a Go Roam Around the World Extra destination. You can use your UK minutes, texts and up to 12GB of data by buying an ATWX pass or paying a daily roaming charge — unless your plan already includes roaming.

Published ATWX passes

Three publishes one-time Around the World Extra passes: 3-day £17.50, 5-day £29.75, 7-day £42 and 14-day £84 — usable in any ATWX destination, bought before you go or while abroad.

Or a daily charge — plan and date dependent

Without a pass, a daily roaming charge unlocks your UK calls, texts and data for 24 hours. Its amount depends on your plan and when you joined or upgraded — current public rules include £7 and £8 daily-charge cohorts, so check your own plan rather than assuming one number.

12GB fair use — and plan inclusions

Pay Monthly fair use allows up to 12GB of your data allowance a month in Go Roam destinations. Some Three Your Way Value and Complete plans already have inclusive roaming or Daily Go Roam passes built in.

How to read these numbers

Each figure assumes the stated option applies to your plan and is triggered on every listed day (for O2 and Vodafone) or bought as the matching pass (Three). Your actual bill depends on your plan, included benefits and how many days roaming is triggered — and if Egypt is already included in your plan, the incremental cost can be £0. When daily charges would add up like this, that’s exactly when a travel eSIM with a known price is worth checking.

A travel eSIM gives you no Egyptian number

NileRoam’s current Egypt plans are data-only: no Egyptian phone number, no traditional calls, no SMS. Your UK number is the one that keeps working.

WhatsApp keeps your UK number

WhatsApp generally keeps running on your existing UK number over any data connection. But keeping your WhatsApp identity is not the same as roaming voice/SMS — those still follow your UK carrier’s rules.

Calls and texts on the UK SIM

With a travel eSIM installed, calls and texts to your UK number still arrive on the UK SIM and are charged under that carrier’s roaming rules. Exact dual-SIM behaviour depends on your device and settings — we can’t guarantee behaviour across every model.

The practical setup: keep the UK SIM in for your number, turn off its data roaming, and let the eSIM carry your data.

Websites and apps may use other signals to determine your location.
